1 – ABOUT THE REGIONAL RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM:

Topic – Infrastructure related issues

  • About:
  • The Delhi–Meerut RRTS is a semi-high-speed rail line connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut that is currently under construction.
  • It is one of three rapid-rail routes planned as part of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation’s Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) Phase-I project (NCRTC).
  • The route between Delhi and Meerut will be covered in roughly 62 minutes at a top speed of 160 km/h (99.42 mph) (1.03 h).
  • These aerodynamic RRTS trains will be lightweight and thoroughly air-conditioned, thanks to their radiating stainless steel outer body.
  • For ease of entry and egress, each automobile will have six automated plug-in type broad doors, three on each side.

Topic – Statutory and Non-Statutory Bodies

  • About the GST Council:
  • Article 279A establishes it as a constitutional body.
  • It was established by the Constitution (One Hundred and First Amendment) Act, 2016, and gives recommendations to the Union and State Governments on problems relating to the Goods and Service Tax.
  • The GST Council is presided by the Union Finance Minister, while other members include Union State Ministers of Revenue or Finance, as well as State Ministers in Charge of Finance or Taxation.
  • It is a federal body in which both the federal government and the states have equal representation.
  • Every decision of the Goods and Services Tax Council must be made by a majority of not less than three-fourths of the members present and voting, in accordance with the following principles:
  • Voting in the GST Council:
  • The vote of the Central Government will be weighted at one-third of all votes cast.
  • Also, the votes of all state governments combined shall have a weightage of two-thirds of the total votes cast.
  • Significance of the GST Council:
  • The GST Council was also praised in the Economic Survey 2017-18 for its cooperative federalism technology, which brings the Center and States together and may be applied to a variety of policy initiatives.

3 – ABOUT THE CENTRAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION:

Topic – Statutory and Non-Statutory Bodies

  • What exactly is CBI:
  • The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is India’s top investigative agency.
  • It was formed under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1967.
  • It is overseen by the Department of Personnel, Ministry of Personnel, Pensions & Public Grievances, Government of India, which is part of the prime minister’s office.
  • The Central Vigilance Commission, on the other hand, is in charge of investigations under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
  • It also serves as India’s nodal police agency, coordinating investigations on behalf of Interpol member countries.
  • It has a conviction record of 65 to 70%, which puts it on par with the greatest investigation organizations in the world.
  • The CBI is in charge of a number of cases including:
  • Anti-Corruption Crimes – for the investigation of cases brought against public officials and workers of the Central Government, Public Sector Undertakings, Corporations, or Bodies owned or controlled by the Government of India under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
  • Economic Crimes – for the investigation of major financial scams and serious economic frauds, such as crimes involving Fake Indian Currency Notes, Bank Frauds, and Cyber Crime, bank frauds, Import Export & Foreign Exchange violations, large-scale narcotics, antiques, cultural property, and other contraband items, and so on.
  • Special Crimes – cases of terrorism, bomb blasts, kidnapping for ransom, and crimes perpetrated by the mafia/underworld are investigated under the Indian Penal Code and other laws at the request of state governments or on the directives of the Supreme Court and High Courts.
  • Suo Moto Cases – The CBI can only investigate offences in the Union Territories on its own initiative.
  • The CBI can be authorized by the Central Government to investigate a crime in a state, but only with the approval of the state government in question.
  • The Supreme Court and High Courts, on the other hand, have the authority to direct the CBI to investigate a crime anywhere in the country without the permission of the government.

4 – ABOUT THE FIRST OPEN ROCK MUSEUM OF INDIA:

Prelims Specific Topic

  • About:
  • On the campus of the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitender Singh inaugurated the first open rock museum on Thursday, displaying various types of rocks gathered from various states with ages ranging from 3.3 billion years to around 55 million years.
  • About 46 rocks of various sizes have been tastefully presented in a garden with focus lights and descriptions explaining the economic and scientific significance of some of them, which are found as far as 175 kilometers below the earth’s surface. Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Jammu & Kashmir, and other states provided the rocks.
  • The Minister advised that students and enthusiasts be made aware of the unique rock museum. “As these are the landmarks of modern India,” he remarked, “it should be one of the most essential destinations to visit in this city of composite culture.”

5 – DETAILS OF THE KALADEO NATIONAL PARK:

  • It is located in the Bharatpur district of Rajasthan, in the eastern section of the state.
  • The park covers about 30 square kilometers and includes numerous artificial and seasonal ponds.
  • Keoladeo is home to a variety of migratory birds who use it as a breeding and wintering habitat.
  • It is a Ramsar site as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • The Siberian crane is a rare bird that was last seen in this area before the turn of the century.
  • It is home to roughly 365 different bird species, including raptors and waterfowl.
  • The terrain is home to jackals, sambars, nilgais, wild cats, hyenas, wild boar, porcupine, and mongoose.
